Our Team

Here at Spring Green Tackle we take pride in who we affiliate ourselves with. We are not your typical custom rod building company, and definitely not your typical fly fishing anglers. We are the misfits, the outcasts. We create our own path, and that’s what we follow. We do not conform to the norm, or to the current trends, we do what feels right to us.

This allows us to have a very unique team of anglers to represent us. The only common ground is the love for the outdoors, which is enough for us. These anglers are helping to push the brand, and love for the outdoors to everyone possible. So if you see one of us out in the wild, stop us and talk fishing.

Benny Carl, Tennessee

If you have been to Nashville, you have most likely ran into Benny, or heard his music pumping out of a bar. He is known for his wealth of fishing knowledge, and ability to consistently find fish. After meeting Benny it was quickly recognized that his personality was a perfect fit for Spring Green Tackle.

When he isn’t fishing you can find Benny out on a dirt bike, playing music, hunting, or relaxing with the rest of the Bad Buoys Pleasure Gang.

Chris Hernet, Wisconsin

In the fly tying game for over 15 years, and the rod building game for over 10, Chris is not new to the industry. He started Spring Green Tackle with a dream of being able to get budget friendly performance flies and custom rods into customer hands. His unique style is absorbed from the combination of cityscapes and back woods colors, he transfers these views to custom rods through loud colors with dark accents, mixing hot and cold hues, and very “in your face” designs.

The Midwest has a ton of variations of fishing, but Chris is often seen tossing flies at Bluegills on a 2wt. Aside from fishing Chris enjoys taking his Ford Raptor on the path less traveled, or adventuring with his wife and their dogs.

In 2023 Chris became the Largemouth Bass catch and release state record holder for Wisconsin.
