Old Faithful With bucktail/rabbit Tails
This is the Old Faithful fly, but with a bit more action for those pesky predators. Tail has a rabbit strip, barred hackle and bucktail. This creates plenty of life and breathing action during retrieve and pause. Just like the original, we kept the slow sinking due to the flies water absorbing abilities. Strip and pause works great for catching Bass and Pike. Swims like a tadpole or baitfish with short strips and rod tip twitches. Size 2 hook.
Recommended Technique:
7wt fly rod will cast this fly well. Cast out and allow fly to sink slightly (will absorb water). Slow stripping with slight rod tip twitches bring this fly to life and cause it to swim like a swimbait. (before first cast i soak the fly boat side to help it sink right away). After you are done using this fly carefully squeeze the body out to promote quick drying.
